## Essence
Lune Feline is Atelier des Ors best-known spicy vanilla, and it is not a soft bakery vanilla. Marie Salamagne frames Tahitian vanilla with cardamom, cinnamon, pink pepper, styrax, cedar, ambergris, Peru balsam and musk. The result is dry, smoky, balsamic and a little animalic.
## Scent Profile
The first minutes are dominated by cardamom and cinnamon, sharpened by pink pepper. The heart turns darker as styrax, cedar and ambergris add smoke, salt and a suede-like animalic warmth. Vanilla rises slowly from the base, joined by Peru balsam and musk. The drydown is creamy but not sugary: more resin, fur and incense than cake.
## Performance
Performance is debated. Some wearers get very long tenacity and a strong opening aura; others find it becomes close much sooner. The most consistent pattern is a bold spicy start followed by a long, warmer, more intimate vanilla-balsam drydown.
## Wearing Context
Best in fall and winter, especially at night. It suits dates, quiet dinners, and cocooning cold-weather wear. It is unisex, with the vanilla pulling soft and the smoke, spice and ambergris pulling darker.
## Comparisons & DNA
The most useful frame is dirty vanilla: imagine the animalic warmth of Musc Ravageur brought into the orbit of Spiritueuse Double Vanille or Eau Duelle, then made drier and smokier. It also shares territory with By the Fireplace and Babycat, but is more cardamom-driven and less straightforwardly sweet.
## Reception
Reception is warm but polarized. Fans praise its uniqueness, sensuality and non-sugary vanilla. Detractors object to the medicinal, smoky or barbecue-like facets and to performance inconsistency. It is a sample-first cult scent rather than an easy blind buy.
## Versions & Reformulation
The original 2015 eau de parfum remains in production. Later relatives include Lune Feline Extrait, the barrel-aged Vintage edition, and the Gold Craftsmanship limited edition. These should be treated as related versions, not replacements for the EDP.
## Acquisition Notes
Sold as a full niche eau de parfum, with refills available for the standard EDP. Sample first if you dislike cardamom, smoky balsams or animalic vanilla.
## Notable Facts & Lore
- The fragrance launched with the house in 2015 and became one of its signatures.
- The gold flakes in the bottle are part of Atelier des Ors identity, and the feline name fits the scent unusually well: plush, warm and slightly dangerous.
