Al Haramain — L'Aventure Intense
Essence
L’Aventure Intense is Al Haramain’s 2019 follow-up to its 2016 L’Aventure, a budget Emirati EDP positioned squarely against Creed Aventus. Where the original L’Aventure traded on pineapple-bergamot brightness, the Intense flank reads as a citrus-forward, smoother, more woody reinterpretation of the Aventus DNA - lemon and bergamot in front of a tan musk-amber-patchouli base. Within the Aventus-clone hierarchy alongside Armaf CDNIM and Afnan Supremacy, it is the cleanest and most modern-batch-Aventus-like - the “fresh-batch” clone.
Scent Profile
The opening is unambiguously citrus: lemon and bergamot dominate the first ten minutes, with a touch of resinous elemi giving a faint piney-balsamic edge. There is none of the loud “floor cleaner” floral-aldehyde lemon found in cheaper clones - it lands sweeter, riper, with a phantom blackcurrant/pineapple shimmer even though those notes are not officially listed. The pyramid departs deliberately from Creed Aventus’s pineapple top, but the perfumer has engineered the same allyl amyl glycolate-style fruity halo via citrus-musk interplay. Between roughly 45 minutes and three hours, the heart settles into the smoother, more woody phase. Jasmine and lily-of-the-valley are submerged - a transparent floral wash rather than recognisable notes - while “woody notes” (in practice ambroxan and Iso E Super, going by ingredient-list reviews) carry the structure. Less zest than non-Intense, more drywood and clean musk, with a subdued vanillic creaminess several wearers describe as “very close to modern, post-Blackrock Aventus drydown.” From three hours onward the drydown is a clean musk-amber-patchouli skin scent, patchouli kept fractionated and modern.
Performance
Performance is the single most polarising aspect. Two production runs exist: an earlier release with “Intense” engraved on the glass, widely reported as strong (6 - 10 hours skin, 12+ on fabric), and a later run with a glued black “Intense” sticker that many wearers call weak, sometimes vanishing inside two hours. With a recent sticker batch, expect moderate projection (about an arm’s length) for the first 60 - 90 minutes, then a fast collapse to skin scent. With an engraved batch, expect strong projection (about a metre, 1 - 1.5 hours) and a steady wake for 4 - 6 hours.
Wearing Context
Year-round capable, but it sings hardest in late spring through early autumn, daytime to early evening. Office, daytime errands, casual dates, warm-weather travel - anywhere a clean fresh-fougere/chypre would land. Does not have the smoky gravitas to anchor formalwear at night; in a winter evening setting it can read thin. Falls flat in heavily perfumed environments (clubs, weddings) where its modest projection gets lost.
Comparisons & DNA
- Creed Aventus (current Kering-era batches): ~70 - 80% similar DNA but lacks the leather-smoke and BB-batch birch tar. Closer to modern fruity batches than 2015 - 2018 vintage. Significantly cheaper. - Creed Aventus (vintage 2015 - 2018 “super-pineapple”): Intense is markedly cleaner and less smoky.
Reception
Consensus places L’Aventure Intense among the top three accessible Aventus clones. One editorial summary calls it “a popular fresh-woody fragrance from 2019,” and one of the most-quoted reviews characterises it as “currently the best Aventus clone - much more complex, citrusy, and smoother compared to L’Aventure.” A second oft-quoted reviewer describes it as “a smoky version of Aventus with citrus instead of pineapple.” Praise: value for money (typically $25 - $35 street), bottle and box presentation, citrus quality, modern-Aventus accuracy. Criticism concentrates on the engraved vs. sticker batch performance gap, with multiple wearers posting the sticker version “is an outright lie” and “feels like a scam directly by Al haramain.” Secondary criticism: opening is too sour or “cheap synthetic lemon.” Polarisation axes: (1) batch performance; (2) whether it is more Aventus-like than CDNIM; (3) sour citrus reading.
Versions & Reformulation
Two production variants are widely acknowledged though never confirmed by Al Haramain: 1. Earlier engraved-glass version - “Intense” debossed into the bottle glass; performance reports consistently stronger. 2. Later sticker version - “Intense” applied as a black adhesive sticker.

Notable Facts & Lore
- No perfumer is credited.
- Al Haramain has not publicly disclosed who composed the L’Aventure family.
- The original L’Aventure (2016) was Al Haramain’s first significant Western-style designer-alternative success and rapidly entered the Aventus-clone canon promoted by mid-tier influencer YouTubers - a position L’Aventure Intense inherited and reinforced upon its 2019 launch.
- The flanker marked Al Haramain’s pivot from a near-exclusively traditional oud/attar identity (the house was founded in Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in 1970 by Bangladeshi businessman Kazi Abdul Haque, per the brand’s official About Us page) toward a Western-cologne competitor program that now includes the Amber Oud, Portfolio, and L’Aventure lines.
