Essence

Illicit Flower is a 2016 EDT that lightens the original Illicit’s honeyed floral-gourmand structure into apricot, mandarin, rose, jasmine, musk, and sandalwood. It is a transparent warm-weather flanker rather than an illicitly dark or seductive scent.

Scent Profile

Mandarin and apricot make a sparkling fruity opening. Rose, jasmine, grapefruit blossom, and freesia create a soft floral middle, with freesia sometimes reading as shampoo-like. Cashmeran, sandalwood, musk, vanilla, and benzoin form a clean, fuzzy base. After the citrus fades, it stays in a fairly linear floral-musk register. The effect is soft and inoffensive, with little of the honeyed density of the parent fragrance.

Performance

Performance is modest, generally close to skin with a three-to-five-hour life. Generous application and clothing sprays can help. It works better in warmth than cold, where its quiet projection can disappear.

Wearing Context

Spring and summer workdays, lunches, and casual outings are ideal. It is pleasant in close quarters and easy to wear, but not a natural choice for cold weather or an evening statement.

Comparisons & DNA

The original Illicit is heavier and honey-amber-rich, whereas Flower is fruitier, more transparent, and less sweet. Versace Vanitas EDT offers a related direction, while Flowerbomb provides a denser floral benchmark that makes Flower’s lightness clear.

Reception

The scent is considered pretty, delicate, and feminine, with weakness in longevity and originality. Supporters value its clean freshness; critics find it basic and too faint to leave much impression.

Versions & Reformulation

Illicit Flower was released as a single EDT in 40 ml, 60 ml, and 100 ml formats. It is discontinued, and no meaningful reformulation is documented.

Acquisition Notes

This is a budget resale and discounter fragrance with limited collector cachet. A decant is a sensible first test because its soft performance is the key trade-off.

Notable Facts & Lore

  • Sky Ferreira returned as campaign face from the original Illicit.
  • The flanker used the same faceted bottle in pale pink juice.
  • It was designed as a light summer extension of the Illicit line.
