Black Opium Intense is the aromatic, boozy twist on Black Opium. Absinthe and licorice cut through coffee and vanilla, giving the fragrance a drier, greener, more androgynous nighttime character than the usual sweet coffee-floral formula.

The opening is dark and unusual for the line. Boysenberry and roasted coffee are threaded with blue absinthe and licorice, which bring a bitter, anisic lift. The effect can feel like an aromatic coffee liqueur rather than a conventional sweet gourmand. Jasmine sambac and orange blossom occupy the heart, but they do not fully soften the coffee and herbal edge. On some skin, the absinthe is striking and memorable; on others, it is faint and the jasmine can become sharp. That variability explains why the scent has both strong advocates and equally strong detractors. Vanilla, licorice, and sandalwood smooth the drydown. There is no documented reformulation. Black Opium Intense was discontinued around 2023 to 2024. Its deep-blue bottle and aromatic formula distinguish it from the more conventional black-and-pink flankers, and its removal left a notable gap for fans of the line’s less-sweet side.
