Essence
Ink is a tattoo-studio fragrance: cold, smoky and metallic, it turns dark vetiver and birch tar into an unusually literal impression of black ink.
Scent Profile
The first moments are intentionally sharp. A black-marker, plastic and faintly rubbery effect arrives with a cold metallic edge, which can feel like soldered wire or burnt tire before it softens. This is not a polite opening, and it is the scent’s main point of division. Birch tar then supplies smoky leather, while Haitian vetiver becomes the central thread: dark, dry, earthy and woody. Jasmine is present as a cool lift rather than as a recognizable floral bloom. Some noses find a creamy sandalwood-like warmth underneath the dark surface. The drydown retains the inky idea but becomes calmer and warmer. It is fairly linear once settled, staying close to a smoky, leathered vetiver instead of unfolding into a broad traditional pyramid.
Performance
Ink generally lasts well and has a solid initial presence. Its dense base can feel weighty, so light application is more useful than overspraying. The scent becomes more skin-close after the opening but continues to hold its dark woody character.
Wearing Context
Cool weather and low-light settings suit it best. Once the opening has passed, it can work for an evening meal or a restrained creative-office setting, but its most natural role is as an identity scent for someone drawn to tattoos, ink, dark woods or conceptual perfumery.
Comparisons & DNA
Lalique Encre Noire is the clearest comparison. Ink takes that cool inky-vetiver idea and makes it warmer, dirtier and more metallic through birch tar. Le Labo Santal 33 offers a lighter leather-and-wood reference, while Etat Libre d’Orange Fat Electrician explains the rubbery vetiver edge without being a direct match.
Reception
Ink is admired for making its concept legible and convincing. Its strongest supporters value the black-ink realism and dense construction; its critics find the opening too plastic-like, heavy or one-dimensional. It is a fragrance to test on skin rather than judge from the note list.
Versions & Reformulation
There is no known reformulation. A limited Robert Bondar edition used the same fragrance in a numbered art-oriented package with a tattoo-marker kit.
