Essence
Smoke is a cigarette fragrance rather than a pipe-tobacco gourmand: cade and birch create the sharp reality of combustion, then benzoin and tonka pull the scent back into a warm balsamic finish.
Scent Profile
The opening is deliberately forceful. Cade oil brings a mentholated, tarry smoke that can suggest a lit cigarette, burnt wood, charcoal or barbecue. A little sweetness can appear at first, like a match catching paper, but the central effect is sooty and phenolic rather than dessert-like. As the sharpest smoke settles, tobacco leaf becomes drier and more herbal. A few wearers detect a sour, mustard-like note in this phase, likely part of the cade effect. This is the most polarizing part of the fragrance and cannot be hidden by a small note list. Benzoin and tonka eventually give the composition a soft, balsamic amber warmth. The drydown retains a quiet ash and leather-like tar impression, but feels smoother and more wearable than the first blast. Smoke is fairly linear after the opening transition.

This is usually a strong performer, with a loud opening and lasting skin presence. One or two sprays are often enough. Although its mood suggests cold weather, it can project well in heat too, so application should stay restrained.
