Essence

Follow is Kerosene’s benchmark coffee scent: dark roasted beans, maple sweetness, vanilla, tonka, amber and benzoin. It is not coffee-flavored dessert so much as a wearable cup of dark coffee with gourmand warmth around the rim.

Scent Profile

The opening is direct and realistic. Follow smells like dark roasted coffee grounds, sometimes slightly burnt, sometimes like sweet coffee liqueur. Maple sap adds a faint syrupy and woody sweetness, while spice nuances suggest cinnamon, clove or cardamom depending on the nose. As it settles, the coffee softens into vanilla, tonka, amber and benzoin. The drydown is warmer and cozier than the opening but still more roasted bean than cream dessert. Some wearers get dry black coffee; others get sweet coffee syrup. That skin variance is part of why the scent remains interesting. The signature is restraint. Kerosene could have made coffee heavy and syrupy; Follow keeps enough air around the roast to stay wearable.

Performance

Follow is long-lasting for a gourmand, generally strong without reaching the notorious volume of Followed. Projection can be moderate or strong depending on application, and fabric often holds the coffee accord. A small minority find it shorter-lived, so sampling on skin matters.

Wearing Context

This is fall and winter comfort: casual days, cozy mornings, dates, relaxed evenings and cold-weather layering. It can make people nearby think of coffee, pancakes or breakfast. It is less suited to conservative offices and hot weather because the realism and food associations are hard to hide.

Comparisons & DNA

Followed is the key comparison. Follow is drier, coffee-forward and more restrained; Followed is louder, sweeter, more maple-caramel and famously persistent. DSH Cafe Noir and Olympic Orchids Cafe V help locate the independent coffee field, but Follow is usually praised as the more literal roasted-coffee option. It is not a mainstream creamy coffee gourmand.

Reception

Wearers generally treat Follow as a cult coffee reference, praising realism, comfort, value and performance. Criticism comes from those who experience the roast as burnt, bitter or stale. Luca Turin’s negative read stands as the sharp dissent, while other critic coverage is much warmer. The value story is favorable, but it is still sample-first for coffee skeptics.

Versions & Reformulation

No reformulation is documented. Followed is a separate 2022 follow-up, not a changed version of Follow.

Acquisition Notes

Follow is available through Kerosene and specialist retailers in 100 ml EDP bottles, with samples easy to find. It is one of the safer Kerosene entry points for gourmand lovers, but the realistic coffee accord can be polarizing on skin.
