Viola Essenziale is Sonia Constant’s 2013 Tuscan Soul iris: a clean, powdery, quietly fruity iris-musk built around Florentine iris rather than violet. Its appeal is understated polish; its problem is very soft performance.

The opening pairs lychee with neroli, giving a faint tart fruit lift over clean orange-blossom freshness. Many wearers find the lychee subtle, with the powdery iris arriving almost immediately. The heart is cool Florentine iris and orange blossom. It is not dark, rooty, or carroty; it is transparent, cosmetic, and linen-clean. Patchouli and musk form the base, with the musk doing most of the work. The drydown is soft white musk, clean wood, and powder.
Performance
Performance is the major limitation. Viola Essenziale is intimate, short-lived for many wearers, and best approached as a skin scent that may need reapplication. Its delicacy is part of its elegance, but anyone expecting presence will be disappointed.
