Essence

Trussardi Donna Goccia a Goccia (2017) is not really a new fragrance - it’s the well-loved Trussardi Donna (2011, by Nathalie Lorson) re-housed in a limited-edition “drop by drop” flacon designed to be applied via a pipette/dabber on the stopper rather than sprayed. The juice is the same bright, sunny Italian floral-oriental: a fruity citrus opening of yuzu and watery fruits, a clean white-floral and jasmine-tea heart, and a creamy vanilla-sandalwood base. The “goccia a goccia” (drop by drop) gimmick is the entire point of the release - and, by wide wearer agreement, its biggest flaw.

Scent Profile

The wear follows the Trussardi Donna blueprint closely. It opens with a radiant, fruity-citrus aura - yuzu, lemon, “watery”/aquatic fruit - that reads juicy and sweet rather than sour, a touch more aquatic/refreshing than the original to some noses. The heart is a clean white-floral bouquet built on jasmine tea, water lily and orange blossom, kept “non-indolic and fresh,” with one wearer perceiving slightly more jasmine than in the 2011 Donna. It dries down creamy and soft: vanilla, sandalwood, cedar and white patchouli producing the “clean skin after a day in the sun” effect that fans love about the Donna line. Signature accord: bright yuzu-citrus over clean jasmine-tea florals and creamy vanilla. Most wearers report the composition is essentially indistinguishable from the standard Donna EDP - “almost indistinguishable” - with any perceived difference (slightly softer, more aquatic, more jasmine) plausibly attributable to dabbing versus spraying rather than a reformulation; Trussardi itself stated there is no difference in composition, only in the flacon.

Performance

Performance mirrors the regular Donna and is the line’s known weak point: moderate at best. wearer It’s a light, refreshing wear rather than a powerhouse - though one wearer pushed back that the EDP “is by no means” weak and is “quite strong,” so dosage matters, and the dabber’s tiny output works against you here. The far more intense option in the family is the 2019 Donna EDP Intense, which wearers say lasts 10+ hours. Best in spring and summer as a fresh daytime scent; the citrus-forward profile suits warm weather.

Wearing Context

A spring/summer, daytime, casual-to-work scent. Wearers repeatedly describe the Donna juice as office-friendly, “light and delicate,” and an everyday warm-weather refresher - several specifically keep it for hot days, weekends and uplifting “mood booster” wear. The clean, sunny, “Bella Figura” Mediterranean elegance reads as approachable and feminine without being heavy or seductive. The drop-by-drop format nudges it toward a more deliberate, intimate application ritual, but functionally it’s a bright everyday floral. Social-perception skew: pretty, polished, inoffensive - a crowd-pleasing daytime feminine.

Comparisons & DNA

Its nearest relations are its own siblings: it is the same scent as Trussardi Donna EDP (2011), close to the Trussardi Donna EDT (2016) - which pushes the jasmine-tea and yuzu and is “more relaxed/earthier” - and shares its DNA with the richer, longer-lasting Trussardi Donna EDP Intense (2019) and the later Donna Levriero limited editions (2022), which reuse the same fruity-floral-vanilla pyramid. Its 2017 release partner, Trussardi My Name Goccia a Goccia, is a different scent entirely (a violet-heliotrope-lilac powdery floral by Aurelien Guichard). Outside the house, the jasmine-tea facet invites comparison to other tea-floral feminines wearers in the Donna context - Cacharel Scarlett and Givenchy Ange ou Demon Le Secret both feature a similar pretty jasmine-tea note - while the bright yuzu-and-cream profile occupies the same sunny-Italian-citrus-floral space as many Mediterranean designer florals. One wearer likened the Donna’s currant-sweet facet to Carolina Herrera Very Good Girl, though Donna is less sweet and less powdery.

Reception

The juice is genuinely loved - the Trussardi Donna line enjoys a loyal following who praise its natural, clean, “smells expensive for the price” sunny elegance, and many call the original a signature scent. The Goccia a Goccia edition specifically, however, is dominated by one recurring, pointed complaint: the bottle. Wearers report the flacon “continues to leak and evaporate,” call it “a nightmare,” and note the dabber is “too small” and frustrating to use - “very tiny drops come out… It was a pain to use it, I gave it away. “ The verdict that crystallizes the reception is “Genius bit of marketing. What next? Applying perfume with a brush maybe? “ Because most perceive no scent difference from the standard (and easier-to-use) Donna, the consensus is that the format is a novelty rather than an upgrade. Blind-buy verdict: the scent is a safe, affordable, pretty blind buy - but buy the regular Donna spray, not the leak-prone Goccia a Goccia flacon, unless you specifically want the limited-edition object.

Versions & Reformulation

Same composition as Trussardi Donna (2011); the Goccia a Goccia is a limited-edition packaging variant (50 ml EDP, dabber/pipette application) launched March 2017 alongside My Name Goccia a Goccia. Trussardi explicitly stated the fragrance is unchanged from the standard Donna - only the flacon differs. No reformulation of the juice is documented. The broader Donna line has many concentration variants (EDT 2016, EDP Intense 2019, Levriero limited editions), but those are separate products.

Acquisition Notes

Affordable designer pricing. Per wearer reports, the limited Goccia a Goccia editions “are available as a 50ml Eau de Parfum at the announced prices of 79 EUR,” but the underlying scent is widely discounted - one European wearer reported buying it “for such a delicious + such a quality of only 28 euros for 50ml,” and it’s commonly available well below typical designer prices through discounters and on eBay (1.7 oz / 50 ml splash bottles circulate). Given the format, buyers should expect possible evaporation/leakage in the dabber bottles and may prefer the standard Donna spray for daily use.

Notable Facts & Lore

  • The release’s hook is purely conceptual: Trussardi’s “Wear the perfume in a different way - drop by drop” campaign reframed application as an intimate ritual, applying scent via a pipette on the stopper directly to the skin - a niche-luxury affectation (wearers compared it to Dior J’adore L’Or and noted Louboutin did similar) grafted onto a mainstream designer floral.
  • The wearer’s lasting takeaway is the irony that an edition built entirely around its novel applicator is most remembered for that applicator not working well.
