Citron d’Erable is a lemon-and-maple Cologne Absolue designed as a Canadian olfactory postcard. Its maple is not breakfast syrup so much as sap, cool air and maple wood, which gives a citrus formula an uncommon forested warmth.

Lemon arrives first, bright, slightly bitter and lifted by mandarin and Sichuan pepper. It has the recognizable snap of an Atelier Cologne citrus, but the transition away from it is what makes the fragrance unusual. Maple syrup is present as a warm sweet suggestion rather than a thick gourmand note. Black currant adds tartness, while eucalyptus supplies the cool, mentholated impression of fresh-cut wood and chilly air. The effect aims at a whole maple tree, not a stack of pancakes. Maple wood, sequoia and cedar take over late. This can feel like a rich arboreal illusion held light by lemon, though some wearers find the leafier woods muddy or curry-like. The 2016 Canada-exclusive Cologne Absolue is the sole composition, with no known reformulation. It was sold in 30 ml, 100 ml and a small travel format before discontinuation.
