Essence

Goddess Intense is the darker 2024 chapter of Burberry’s lavender-vanilla line. It builds a more aromatic, smoky character by giving patchouli and a fourth vanilla material greater weight.

Scent Profile

The opening is a pronounced herbal, camphorous lavender rather than a soft sweet floral. It settles into layered vanilla, gradually becoming warmer and more rounded. Patchouli stays active through the drydown, bringing woody smoke and spice to the lavender-vanilla structure. The scent develops from aromatic to gourmand to woody rather than remaining a single sweet vanilla accord.

Performance

Longevity generally exceeds projection, and the base holds especially well on fabric. Conservative application is useful because overspraying, particularly in heat, can make the lavender feel sharp.

Wearing Context

Cool weather, evenings and office-to-dinner settings suit its warm aromatic character. It is marketed as feminine but its lavender-patchouli tension can read unisex or masculine-leaning.

Comparisons & DNA

The original Goddess is lighter, airier and more directly vanilla-lavender. Intense is darker and patchouli-forward. Jazz Club, Libre Intense and Mon Guerlain are helpful references for the broader lavender-vanilla territory, each with a different balance.

Reception

The lavender and patchouli divide opinion. Admirers find the darker structure more interesting than the original, while detractors find it pungent, patchouli-heavy or too close to the pillar to justify another bottle.

Versions & Reformulation

This is a distinct flanker, not a reformulation of the 2023 original. It adds a smoky vanilla-wood effect and has no known reformulation of its own.

Acquisition Notes

It is broadly available in refillable formats. Sampling is sensible because the opening can be much sharper than the vanilla premise suggests.

Notable Facts & Lore
