Essence

Mr. Burberry EDP is the 2017 warmer counterpart to the original Mr. Burberry EDT. Francis Kurkdjian adds cinnamon, patchouli and amber to a fresh woody-aromatic structure for a more evening-facing result.

Scent Profile

Herbal tarragon and a fresh aromatic opening arrive with spice. Cardamom, mint and grapefruit nuances are joined by cinnamon from the start.

Lavender, nutmeg and cedar form the middle, before patchouli, amber, benzoin, vetiver and sandalwood create a smooth warm finish. The patchouli stays clean, and the whole composition remains more polished than earthy.

Performance

Projection is moderate and most pronounced early. Longevity is variable and often shorter than expected from an EDP, so it works best as a close, pleasant personal scent rather than an all-day projector.

Wearing Context

The darker spice and amber suit cool evenings, dinners and dates. Its clean, restrained character also makes it viable for office wear and transitional daytime use with a conservative application.

Comparisons & DNA

Mr. Burberry EDT is fresher, more grapefruit-led and more barbershop-like; this EDP is richer and warmer. Masculin Pluriel, Bleu de Chanel EDP and Dylan Blue are useful reference points for its polished designer woody-aromatic space, though the cinnamon and patchouli distinguish it.

Reception

People who enjoy safe designer fragrances value its smoothness, versatility and accessible pricing. The main reservations are middling longevity and familiar styling. It is best understood as a competent, crowd-friendly woody spice rather than an experimental composition.

Versions & Reformulation

This is a distinct 2017 EDP following the 2016 EDT. The line also includes Indigo and other limited variants. No widely reported reformulation of this EDP is documented.

Acquisition Notes

Mr. Burberry EDP has appeared in 30, 50 and 100 ml sizes. It is commonly available below full designer retail, but testing remains useful for anyone who expects strong EDP longevity.
