The opening is the showiest part. Damascus rose comes forward warm, sweet and spicy, almost plummy in tone, with a clean soapy edge. It is not a delicate rosewater scent; it is dense, sweet and immediately present.
The heart brings oud and patchouli into focus. The oud is synthetic and smoky rather than natural, and it can feel a little ashy or medicinal. Patchouli darkens the rose, creating a rose-patchouli-incense effect that explains the repeated comparisons to more expensive rose-oud and rose-chypre perfumes.
