Hind Al Oud — Alifi
Essence
Alifi is a 2024 woody-aromatic parfum from Hind Al Oud, the Emirati house under the Mohamed Hilal Group, released as half of a paired launch (with Ya’E) staged at Dubai Design Week’s 10th edition in November 2024. Unlike most of the house’s listed information, which is built on dehn-grade oud, rose, saffron and musk, Alifi is a comparatively Western-facing aromatic-gourmand: a bergamot-and-mandarin citrus opening over a lavender-hazelnut heart, grounded by licorice and Haitian vetiver. The concept is explicitly literary - both Alifi and Ya’E were inspired by the poem “Kibriya’E” by Kuwaiti poet Faisal Al-Adwani, with the two perfume names playing on the Arabic letters Alif and Ya. It is positioned by the brand as a scent “designed to awaken ambition.”
Scent Profile
This is an unusual case with limited wearer evidence: at this stage there are no published independent reviews of how Alifi actually smells or wears. What can be stated is the documented structure and the brand’s own framing. The note set - Calabrian bergamot and red mandarin on top, lavender and hazelnut in the heart, licorice and Haitian vetiver in the base - describes a fougere-adjacent aromatic with a sweet-nutty twist: the hazelnut/licorice pairing suggests a praline or anise-tinged sweetness sitting against the herbaceous lavender and the earthy, slightly smoky Haitian vetiver. On paper this reads as a lavender-vetiver aromatic with a gourmand bend, in the broad territory of modern “sweet barbershop” compositions rather than the house’s signature oud style. Treat any more specific characterization as inference from the pyramid, not as confirmed wear experience.
Performance
No documented or wearers performance claims (projection, sillage, longevity) exist for Alifi specifically. The only relevant context is brand-level: per Fashionicide’s March 2025 Hind Al Oud Sheikh A review, the brand’s Dubai Mall staff advised that “their fragrances all contain 40% perfume oil. For context, a typical Eau de Parfum contains around 15 to 20%.” That very high concentration would predict strong longevity, but it is a house-wide claim and has not been verified for Alifi. No weather or application guidance is documented.
Wearing Context
No wearer reports on seasonality, occasion or social perception exists. By composition, a citrus-topped lavender-vetiver aromatic with a sweet-nutty base would conventionally skew toward cooler-weather daytime and transitional-season wear, but this is structural inference rather than reported experience. The brand’s “ambition / determination / resilience” framing positions it as a confident daily-driver signature rather than an evening or occasion scent.
Comparisons & DNA
No wearer comparisons or dupe data exist for Alifi - both wearers and wearers “smells similar” fields are empty. It cannot responsibly be matched to a named comparator from evidence. In broad DNA terms it sits in the aromatic-fougere-with-gourmand-facet family (lavender + nutty/sweet base + vetiver), a space occupied by sweet-aromatic masculines, but no specific analog is supported by sourcing. This is distinct from the rest of the Hind Al Oud lineup, which trades in animalic Hindi oud (Sheikh A), rose-oud and musk compositions.
Reception
There is effectively no wearer reception to report. This is a genuinely under-the-radar release with no consensus, no polarization axis, and no blind-buy verdict available. Buyers are operating on brand copy and the Dubai Design Week halo alone.
Versions & Reformulation
Single composition, no known reformulations. It is sold as a 50ml parfum; a sibling fragrance, Ya’E, was launched alongside it from the same poem concept but is a distinct scent (aldehydes, orris butter, pistachio, metallic saffron, amber wood).
Acquisition Notes
Alifi retails at Dhs 770.00 for 50ml parfum through the house’s official UAE channels (MHGboutique, hind-aloud.com), with installment payment offered (4x Dhs 192.50). Ya’E carries the same price. US availability is via niche retailers such as House of Niche; decant-sized samples (1-9ml) circulate through Scent Split.
