Essence

Cravache Eau de Parfum is the 2022 modern leather version of Piguet’s 1963 masculine. Citrus, saffron, creamy orris, lavender, leather, vetiver, and patchouli give the old leather idea a softer, warmer form.

Scent Profile

Bitter orange, green mandarin, bergamot, and petitgrain open bright and green. Orris brings creamy, soapy softness while saffron bridges citrus to leather. Sage and jasmine stay quiet; lavender, polished leather, vetiver, and patchouli produce a warm restrained drydown.

Performance

Projection is moderate and longevity is commonly six to eight hours. The citrus fades first, leaving a closer leather-orris trail that carries through most of a workday.

Wearing Context

This is a daytime office-to-smart-casual fragrance for spring, summer, and fall. It reads masculine but the creamy orris and soft leather make it accessible across genders.

Comparisons & DNA

Dior Eau Sauvage and Chanel Pour Monsieur remain the lineage anchors. D’Orsay Etiquette Bleue helps explain the soapy orris. Compared with the 2007 EDT, this restores leather and adds saffron; compared with the 1963 original, it is softer and less dry.

Reception

This modern version is often preferred to the 2007 edition for its leather, balance, and office-friendly refinement. Some find the improvement overstated, while vintage admirers still find modern versions too softened.

Versions & Reformulation

The 1963 original was a dry leather chypre; the 2007 EDT was a leatherless aromatic fougere. This 2022 EDP restores leather and adds saffron and orris.

Acquisition Notes

The EDP is sold through Piguet and selected retailers in a mid-tier niche price range. Confirm the black-bottle EDP rather than the classic EDT or a vintage bottle before buying.
