Lancôme — La Vie Est Belle Intensément
Essence
La Vie Est Belle Intensement is a 2020 raspberry-led take on the familiar iris, vanilla and patchouli structure. It shifts the line toward a fruity, powdery sweetness with a smoother base.
Scent Profile
Raspberry arrives first, bright and tart-sweet, with pink pepper adding a cool spark and bergamot supplying a little lift. The opening can read juicy and cheerful, although a few skin types find a sharper metallic or liquor-like accent. Iris is the heart of the scent. Heliotrope, jasmine and orange blossom soften it into a powdery floral center, while the raspberry remains present. The later stage is creamy vanilla, benzoin and sandalwood, with patchouli deliberately quieter than in the original. The result is a cohesive raspberry-iris-to-vanilla arc.
Performance
Projection is moderate to strong in the first hours and settles into a clear personal bubble. Longevity can range from six hours to an all-day wear, with clothing and hair holding it longer. Use a moderate hand because the sweetness can become heavy in heat.
Wearing Context
It is best from early spring through cool weather, for daytime social plans, dates and evenings. The powdery sweetness reads feminine and grown-up, but it can be too much for very hot days or a fragrance-sensitive office.
Comparisons & DNA
Compared with the original La Vie Est Belle, Intensement is fruitier at the start and less patchouli-led in the drydown. The discontinued 2015 Intense is nuttier and creamier. L’Eclat moves in the opposite, orange-blossom-fresh direction. La Nuit Tresor a la Folie is a useful richer evening comparison.
Reception
This is often seen as one of the stronger line extensions because raspberry gives it a recognizable angle. Praise centers on the powdery iris, creamy base and useful wear. The detractors find it familiar, too sweet or not powerful enough for its name.
Versions & Reformulation
The 2020 EDP should not be confused with the discontinued 2015 La Vie Est Belle Intense. There is no confirmed formula revision, though aging bottles may darken and lose some airy character.
Acquisition Notes
The EDP came in 30 ml, 50 ml and 100 ml bottles and remains a standard designer-store purchase where stocked. Testing is worthwhile for anyone sensitive to sweet raspberry or powdery iris.
