Muguet is Fragonard’s 2013 Flower of the Year, a discontinued white floral that treats lily-of-the-valley as a soft idea rather than a strict botanical portrait.
Scent Profile
Neroli and pink pepper provide the first lift: bright, citrus-floral and faintly peppery. The heart is meant to center on lily-of-the-valley, but jasmine and freesia usually carry more of the actual scent. The muguet effect is therefore delicate and impressionistic rather than photorealistic. Clean musk, soft amber and cedar make the drydown airy and cottony. The structure stays gentle, radiant and uncomplicated, with no sharp laundry-detergent edge. It is a white floral first, and a literal lily-of-the-valley soliflore only in a loose sense.
Performance
Muguet is a light EDT with discreet projection. Around three to four hours is a reasonable expectation, although some wearers report a longer, subtle presence. It is designed for a quiet personal radius, not for strong diffusion.

Spring and summer daytime wear are its natural setting. It is feminine, office-friendly and casual, especially for someone who wants a clean floral without a heavy perfume trail. Its soft manner makes it a low-stakes option for scent-sensitive settings.
Comparisons & DNA
Diorissimo is the grander, more complex muguet benchmark. Coty Muguet des Bois is a greener and more literal affordable reference. Penhaligon’s Lily of the Valley is soapier and longer lasting, while Guerlain Muguet and Caron Muguet du Bonheur show more classic muguet approaches. Fragonard’s version is lighter, citrus-forward and less literal than all of them.
Reception
It is liked for its prettiness, soft white-floral character and accessible price. The repeated criticism is that it does not convincingly smell like lily-of-the-valley; others find it too quiet or quickly fading. It is most rewarding when approached as a gentle jasmine-neroli floral, not as a Diorissimo substitute.
Versions & Reformulation
Muguet was a limited Flower of the Year collection in 2013, with EDT, soap, candle and home-fragrance products. It was discontinued as intended, and there is no documented reformulation history.
Acquisition Notes
The fragrance now appears mainly through secondary sellers and can command more than its original value price. Condition matters. For an everyday muguet, currently produced alternatives are usually more practical.
