Essence

Mediterranee is a unisex marine EDP that pairs piercing calone and creamy tiare with a soft woody-musky base.

Scent Profile

Calone and tiare create a strong sea-spray opening: watery, slightly creamy, and deliberately abstract. It can suggest beach air and sunscreen, but it is more technical than a natural seaside scene. Sage, rose, and labdanum sit below the aquatic effect, while immortelle, white musk, cashmeran, and sandalwood emerge more clearly later. The drydown has a warm driftwood quality, though the calone remains present and keeps the scent fairly linear.

Performance

Performance is moderate and skin-dependent, with a longer life on clothing than skin. It is best treated as a freshen-up scent rather than an all-day projector; reapplication is reasonable in hot weather.

Wearing Context

Hot daytime, office, errands, travel, and beach-adjacent casual settings fit it best. It is genuinely shared and unisex, though some noses read the mineral-aquatic effect as more masculine and others as more feminine.

Comparisons & DNA

L’Eau d’Issey and its masculine counterpart are the clearest references, but Mediterranee is less fruity and more calone-led. The Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo range shares a sunny Mediterranean frame, while Molinard’s version is creamier, more floral, and less citrus-driven.

Reception

The creamy driftwood drydown and clean freshness attract admirers. The central disagreement is calone itself: it can read as fresh sea air, sunscreen, herbal candy, or an eggy and musty off-note depending on skin. Sample first; this is a more interesting aquatic than a universally safe one.

Versions & Reformulation

No distinct reformulation is documented. It remains a 75 ml EDP within Molinard’s La Fraicheur collection.

Acquisition Notes

This is a mid-priced Grasse-house fragrance that is also discounted. The standard bottle is 75 ml; sampling is sensible because calone chemistry is the deciding factor. Direct house channels and established retailers are the clearest purchase routes.
